NOVA Work Experience Program
The NOVA Work Experience Program matches youths starting out in their careers with employers offering work experience. Youth gain valuable skills, responsibility and income. The business/organization does not pay the youth but assigns the youth to work duties related to the specific volunteer position. For youth under 18 years old, child labor laws apply. The NOVA youth volunteers are compensated by NOVA for their work. While the duration of the volunteer assignment is determined by the business/organization, NOVA is able to compensate the youth for approximately 200 volunteer hours over a 3-month period. Through the volunteer assignment, youths gain valuable work related skills, responsibility, income, and can use the experience to help find future jobs. Businesses that have used NOVA volunteers include:
- Actiontec Electronics
- Inns of America
- Town Center Pizza
- Realty World Results Pros
- Orchard Supply Hardware
- Milpitas Health and Fitness
- Sunrise Assisted Living
- Santa Clara County Parks
- Mountain View Adult Education
- Spartan Theatre
- and many more
