Welcome Youth!

Important Information For 14-15 Year Olds

14 and 15 year olds can find it a bit difficult to find work for several reasons:

  • Legal limit on working hours (work permit needed)
  • Level of maturity
  • Little to no work experience
  • Increased competition from adults for jobs

Internship & Volunteer Opportunities

Therefore, it may become necessary to take advantage of volunteer or internship opportunities to gain valuable job experience. Try speaking to your school counselors and teachers about possible opportunities provided by your school, or district.

NOVA provides several ways for youth to find employment in addition to the Youth@Work system. The information is provided in our Youth@Work workshop, which is offered every other Tuesday from 4:00pm – 5:00pm, and covers several key areas.

  • The Youth@Work job referral process
  • Alternate ways to find job leads
  • Tips for interviewing and completing a job application
  • How to dress for success
  • Keys to being successful at work
  • Work permit information

The workshop must be taken before you can receive job referrals.

Below you will find a few online resources to aid in locating possible internship and volunteer openings:
